Salisbury, MD – Salisbury University honored three recent retirees with its 2025 Meritorious Staff Awards.

The awards recognize recently retired staff with records of noteworthy contributions or extraordinary commitment during at least 10 years of service to SU and hold a designation similar to a faculty emeritus honor.

This year’s honorees included John Aikman (Facility Planning, retired 2024), Charlie Endicott (Career Services, retired 2024) and Cheryl Morris (Payroll, retired 2023).

Aikman, an architect who joined SU in 2008, was lauded for his attention to detail, customer service and client-focused outcomes. While at SU, he was a key part of projects including the Comprehensive Housing Renovation Program that saw renovations to eight residence halls over four years, as well as the construction of Sea Gull Square and renovation of the Nanticoke River Center.

Endicott served in SU’s Career Services Office for 27 years, including one year as acting director, retiring as associate director. He was lauded for his success as a career counselor and student advocate, his work effort and his legacy as a pillar of the Career Services Office, serving thousands of students during his time at SU.

A 33-year veteran of the Payroll Office, Morris provided exceptional customer service some SU employees still talk about more than a year and a half after her retirement as a payroll processor, according to her nominees, who noted her kindness and timely assistance.

Meritorious Staff Award winners receive a prize package including lifetime privileges to SU’s Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons and Bookstore, a discounted University Fitness Center membership and free campus parking. They also are invited to attend SU employee, cultural, academic and athletic events.
