Baltimore, Md., (July 9, 2025) — The Daily Record selected Megan Outten, former Salisbury Councilwoman and current Chair of the Wicomico County Commission for Women, to receive one of the 2025 Leading Women Under 40 Awards.
“I am still blown away,” says Outten. “I am deeply humbled to receive this recognition, and I want to instead highlight the incredible community that has shaped me. Thank you to my family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. This honor is due to every voice that has shaped me here in Wicomico.”
The Daily Record’s Leading Women Under 40 Awards honor women who are 40 years of age and younger for the accomplishments they have made so far in their careers. Winners were selected for the honor based on their professional experience, community involvement and commitment to inspiring change. The honorees were chosen by previous Leading Women Under 40 honorees and a representative of The Daily Record.
“The 2025 Leading Women are accomplished up-and-coming leaders who juggle family commitments, demanding careers, community service, education, mentoring and many other priorities. They work hard and are committed to making a difference and inspiring change in the community,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record. “These women are making a remarkable impact at a young age, and we at The Daily Record are pleased to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to their future achievements.”

A networking reception begins at 5 p.m. with the awards celebration starting at 6 p.m. Networking continues after the program. Honorees will be profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into the Aug. 21 issue of The Daily Record and will be available online at TheDailyRecord.com.
