The Society of St. Andrew Delmarva invites volunteers, partner agencies, and community members to join us for two upcoming potato gleaning events near Laurel, Delaware, on June 29 and July 6, from 8:00–10:00 AM.
These gleaning sessions take place immediately after the fields are mechanically harvested. Volunteers will collect potatoes left on the surface—produce that would otherwise go to waste but can instead help feed families across our region. Every pair of hands directly strengthens the fight against hunger, and participants are welcome to join for the full two hours or any portion of the morning.
Partner agencies are encouraged to take home whatever quantity they can distribute. Volunteers may bring bags or boxes for collecting potatoes, along with garden gloves, closed‑toed shoes, water, hats, and sun protection. Please note that no animals are permitted, and no restrooms are available on site.
“We are grateful for every volunteer who shows up to help ensure good food reaches the people who need it most,” said Alena Wright, Society of St. Andrew Delmarva Program Coordinator. “Your time and compassion make a real difference.”
We look forward to welcoming volunteers at the farm on June 29 and July 6. Join us and help nourish our community. Register Here: https://mobilize.us/s/vjksjm
