Wicomico schools will hold open house events Wednesday, Aug. 26 (middle and high schools) and Thursday, Aug. 27 (elementary schools) in preparation for the opening of the 2026-2027 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for most students.

Open house information for middle and high schools is listed below, followed by key dates for the start of the school year. (Information on elementary school open houses is posted separately.) If a school has posted a school supply list, a link is provided.

Schools will send out student school-year information letters on Aug. 14, with open house information included with this welcome letter.

Pittsville Elementary and Middle: Join us for our Back-to-School Open House on Wednesday, Aug.26, from 4-6 p.m. Families are asked to bring their completed Student Personal Data & Emergency Record Form. Meet teachers, tour the school, reconnect with friends, and, for middle school families, pick up student schedules. Bennett Middle: The BMS Back-to-School Night will be on Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 4-6 p.m. The administration, faculty and staff look forward to seeing students and families as we get ready to start another legendary school year. Salisbury Middle: On Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 4-6 p.m., the Salisbury Middle administration, faculty and staff will welcome SMS students and their families to a new school year during a Back-to-School Open House. Parents may turn in information from the back-to-school invitation packet any time up to and including the night of the Open House. Once these documents have been accepted, the student is eligible to receive his/her schedule for the school year. Come chat with the SMS leadership team: new Principal Matthew Brady, Assistant Principals Jen Mudd and Brent Lewis, and Deans of Students Morgan Blickley and Detia Cork (new to SMS). We are asking parents to complete a back-to-school survey to identify learning barriers for our students and get feedback on how to best support the needs of our students.  Please note that for NexGen STEM Signature Program students and their parents and guardians, the Back-to-School Meeting for all grade levels will be from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. In this meeting with content teachers (no special area teachers that night), expectations for all three grade levels of NexGen will be reviewed, followed by giving out of student schedules, offering building tours, providing time for students and parents to walk through the student’s schedule, and answering any questions. SMS is proud to be the home of the 2026 winner of the Rising Star Award for the top early-career teacher, math teacher Ayonna Brunson.

Wicomico Middle: On Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 4-6 p.m., the Wicomico Middle administration, faculty and staff will welcome all students and their families to a new school year during the Back-to-School Open House. In order to assist with parking, we have staggered open house: 4-4:30 p.m., 6th City Stage (use front entrance) and 8th Grade (use bus ramp entrance); 4:30-5 p.m., 6th Grade (use gym entrance); 5-5:30 p.m. 7th Grade (use front entrance); 5:30-6 p.m., 6th-8th Young Business Leaders (use bus ramp entrance). If you’re unable to make the specific grade level time, you are welcome to come anytime between 4-6 p.m. Parents may turn in required documents from the back-to-school invitation packet at the Open House. Once these documents have been accepted, the student is eligible to receive his/her schedule for the school year; please report to your student’s homeroom class to receive schedule and Family Portal information. Come out and meet teachers, staff and the 2026-2027 WMS leadership team: new Principal Jason Miller, Assistant Principals Kimandi Binns and Tonya Wilson (welcome back to Wi Middle!), and new Deans of Students Pangiota Cody and Abby Diskin. James M. Bennett High School: The evening of Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 5-7 p.m. is the PTSA Open House Night at JMB for 9th graders and students who are brand new to JMB. Students and families will be able to walk through the building and find their classes. Clipper 9th graders will also be able to pick up their laptops in the cafeteria during the Open House. Parkside High/CTE (Career & Technical Education): Parkside PRIDE – It’s a RAM Thing! We are thrilled to welcome our students and families to what promises to be a truly special year at Parkside High! We are more excited than ever to have our students back in the building and to begin another incredible school year together as the RAMFAM! We’ll kick off the year with Parkside’s RAM JAM – Back to School Bash on Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 4:30–7:30 p.m. This fun-filled evening is designed for the entire family and will include our Open House and classroom visitation from 5-7 p.m., when teachers will be available to meet students and families. RAM JAM will feature a live DJ, outdoor games including cornhole, mini golf, and pickleball, free popcorn and hot dogs, snow cones for sale, and a food truck with dinner items available for purchase. Families will also have opportunities to purchase PHS Band Cards and PHS Choir accessories, meet coaches from our athletic teams, connect with community partners, and learn more about the many opportunities available at Parkside. Students will be able to pick up their class schedules that evening with a completed Student Personal Data & Enrollment Information Form. For families unable to attend RAM JAM, we look forward to welcoming the Parkside High Class of 2030 on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for Freshman Transition Day. We will then welcome back our remaining Parkside students on Wednesday, Sept. 2, as we officially begin the 2026–2027 school year together! Wicomico High: The annual Freshman BBQ is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the school. This event is for first-time 9th graders only. The event will take place outside the auditorium/gym/lobby area located on the Glen Avenue side of the school. There will also be tables set up for students’ families to visit to get information about some of the clubs and organizations available at the school. Students attending the event will be able to pick up class schedules once required school documents are turned in. (Schedules for all other students will be available on Family Portal starting Aug. 26, and will be distributed on the upperclassmen first day of school, which is Wednesday, Sept. 2.) Friday, Aug. 14: Student school year information distributed

 

Wednesday, Aug. 26: Family Portal opens for 2026-2027 school year, with secondary student schedules available to print. Open houses for middle and high schools afternoon/evening.

 

Thursday, Aug. 27: Open houses for elementary schools afternoon/evening.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 1: Students in grades 1-6 and Grade 9 attend school on Tuesday, Sept. 1. (Please note these exceptions: All grades attend at Pittsville Elementary & Middle. Only Grade 6 attends at Mardela Middle & High.)

Wednesday, Sept. 2: All students in grades 1-12 in school Wednesday, Sept. 2.

During the first week, Kindergarten and Prekindergarten students report as scheduled by the assigned school; detailed information will be in the welcome letter. The first day all Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students will be in school together is Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Monday, Sept. 7: Labor Day holiday, schools and Central Office closed
