On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the PRMC Foundation and the Henson Foundation will officially dedicate the new Richard A. Henson Research Institute, a new home for medical research and clinical trials at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
The research institute offers clinical trials for cancer and heart disease as well as multiple other disciplines. Peninsula Regional is able to provide patients with access to clinical trials and studies thanks to its partnerships with the Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network, national cooperative groups and healthcare industry groups. Studies are not limited to cancer but include heart disease research and more. While PRMC has offered clinical trials for many years, the new institute provides a centralized hub for researchers and clinical staff to better coordinate the specialized care and intensive followup required by research, as well as a more comfortable, welcoming environment for patients receiving this care.
David Cowall, MD, Medical Director of the new Richard A. Henson Research Institute, as well as institute coordinator Stephanie Cason, MS, RN, will be available for interviews.
