The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is pleased to announce the establishment of the Korryn P. Whited Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund was created with gifts from many generous individuals on behalf of Korryn and her family. The scholarship fund will serve as a permanent memorial to honor Korryn’s life and the impact she made on those around her.
Korryn Whited graduated from Snow Hill High School in 2011 and was a junior at the University of Maryland College Park studying Aerospace Engineering when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. A beloved member of the community, Korryn passed away on February 12, 2014. Korryn is described by many as a young woman who could reach out to everyone. A genuine, respectful, loving and friendly young woman, Korryn’s words and actions influenced young people and adults alike in a myriad of ways, leading her to stand out among her peers.
The first scholarship will be awarded in the spring of 2015 to a qualified Snow Hill High School senior pursuing a college career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines. The family intends to provide scholarships annually for post-secondary education.
Contributions can be made to the Korryn P. Whited Memorial Scholarship Fund and are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore with a designation of Korryn Whited Memorial Scholarship in the memo.
