Matt Drew, PE, PMP Chosen for Leadership Maryland Class of 2022

Orsted North America, Inc. Onshore Infrastructure Construction Manager and Salisbury resident one of 52 selected for professional development program

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Leadership Maryland announced today that Mr. Matt Drew, Onshore Infrastructure Construction Manager at Orsted North America, Inc., has been chosen to participate in the professional development program as a member of the Class of 2022.

Mr. Drew is one of 52 individuals chosen for Leadership Maryland’s 29th class, who will complete the eight-month, hands-on learning program focused on the state’s most vital issues. The program will run from April to December, and include five, two-day sessions focused on Maryland’s five main geographic regions and the most important issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multi-culturalism/diversity across the state. More than 100 experts representing Maryland’s business, government, education, and non-profit communities will serve as panelists and guest speakers.

As Onshore Infrastructure Construction Manager for Orsted, Mr. Drew is responsible for building all of the land-based improvements necessary for an offshore wind project.  This includes construction harbors, manufacturing plants, Operations and Maintenance Centers, and Onshore Electrical Substations.  Prior to joining Orsted, Mr. Drew founded the consulting firm REconnect LLC to help local manufacturing companies enter into the offshore wind industry.   He has previously worked for the consulting firm AWB Engineers and manufacturing companies including General Motors, Sherwin Williams, and Solo Cup Corporation.

Mr. Drew holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Machinery Design Specialty from Kettering University.  He is a member for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.  He is a registered professional engineer and is currently licensed in 8 states.  He is also holds a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute.

Matt and his wife Melissa call Salisbury their home.  They have two grown daughters, Ellen and Anna.  Matt currently serves on the Greater Salisbury Committee, the Salisbury Bike-Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Salisbury-Wicomico Planning Commission.  He helped build and maintain a community-built playground in Salisbury called Ben’s Red Swings.  He is a founding member of Lower Shore Wind, a group that advocates for local business opportunities in offshore wind.  He also began a local bike advocacy group (Bike-SBY), and spearheaded Salisbury’s initiatives to become a certified Bicycle Friendly Community.
