Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Holds 5th Annual Ladies & Mixed Team 9 Hole Golf Challenge

Salisbury, MD – The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce held the 5th Annual Ladies and Mixed Team 9 Hole Golf Challenge on Thursday, May 15, 2024, at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, MD. Pohanka of Salisbury and CareFirst presented this year’s tournament.

The event began in 2020 as a fun, no-pressure event for women business professionals to learn about golf and its benefits as a networking business tool. The Chamber encourages ladies that have never played golf to play, allows groups to share clubs, and creates an atmosphere that is not competitive (or intimidating!) The event is genuinely “Fun-For-Everyone” and has drawn new players yearly.

The first tournament began with just five foursomes. The event has grown to a sold-out event with using both nine-hole layouts at Green Hill Country Club. 

The event started with a welcome from Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano, Stephanie Kearney of CareFirst, and Alyssa Sinagra and Mary Mengason of Avery Hall Insurance. 

To add to the day’s fun, Reception Sponsor Spicer Bros. Construction greeted players at an interactive hole and players tried their luck at the Putting Green Contest, sponsored by BBSI Salisbury. Tony Nichols gave expert tips on how to make the lengthy putt, and Matt Thompson of the CareFirst team took home the grand prize!

Players dodged the rain long enough to finish nine holes, gathering afterwards for an awards reception sponsored by Avery Hall Insurance Group, Spicer Bros. Construction, and TidalHealth. Beverages sponsored by Jo Jo’s Family Restaurant and Minuteman Press.

Congratulations to all players, both new and experienced, the contest hole winners, and the winning Ladies and Mixed Team players.

First Place Ladies was won by Brianna Spicer, Mikayla Spicer, Kaitlyn Webster, and Hailee Spicer of Spicer Bros. Construction.

First Place Mixed Team was awarded to UMES’s Robert Mock, Kevin O’Dell, Jamila Johnson, and Dylan Ash. 

Second Place Ladies went to the PKS & Company, PA team, Cindy Kleger, Pam Idoni, Denise Brewington, and Jennifer Frieman.

Second Place Mixed team went to The Insurance Market team, Jesus Cruz, Kim Russell, Dean Tomlinson, and Jennifer Hubbard.

Third Place Ladies went to the Deeley Insurance team, Linda Roskovich, Brooke Nugent, Alexis Mumford, and Nancy Caroline Bishop of. 

Third Place Mixed Team winners were Avery Hall’s Alyssa Sinagra, Shayne Ray, Ryan Johnson, and Mary Mengason. 

The Ladies Closest to the Pin contest was won by Caitlyn Evans of the Pohanka team and Jamila Johnson of UMES.

Ladies Longest Drive prize winners were Veronica Jame of the Veronica James, REALTOR® team and Stephanie Kearsley of CareFirst.
