Salisbury Jaycees Host 12th Read Across America Event March 2

SALISBURY, MD—The Salisbury Jaycees hosts its 12th annual Read Across America event 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Wicomico Public Library in downtown Salisbury.

The morning features local celebrities reading their favorite children’s books, as well as coloring activities and visits from the Cat in the Hat, Sherman the Shorebird, Buffalo Wild Wings mascot Jester and Saul the Salisbury Jaycees Bear. The first 75 children in attendance receive a free book, courtesy of the Eastern Shore Literacy Association.

Readers include WBOC News anchor Kimberly Wiggins, Salisbury Fire Department Assistant Chief Rob Frampton and Cpl. Mike Loring of the Salisbury Police Department.

All children attending will be entered into a door prize drawing for Dr. Seuss character stuffed animals and prizes from the Delmarva Shorebirds and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Held in connection with Dr. Seuss’ birth week, Read Across America is a nationwide children’s literacy event sponsored by the National Education Association.
