The Salisbury Award Adds 2 New Trustees

The Trustees of The Salisbury Award are pleased to announce the addition of 2 new Trustees.

Erica Joseph joined the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in 2003 and has served as the Foundation’s Program Officer, Development Director, and Vice President of Community Investment prior to her January 2015 appointment as President and now leads the operation, growth, and development of the Foundation.

Erica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Salisbury University and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland College Park. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Philanthropy Network and Maryland Nonprofits and serves on the Steering Committee/Board for the Maryland Community Foundation Association.

Erica is a graduate of Shore Leadership (2015), Leadership Maryland (2019) and was recognized by The Daily Record’s Leading Women (2015) and Maryland’s Top 100 Women (2018). She lives in Laurel DE, with her husband, Jeremy and son, Andrew.

Sharon Morris joined First Shore Federal in 2016 as a Community Reinvestment Activity Officer. Formerly she served in administrative capacities of Wicomico County local government, retiring in 2015 as the Assistant Director of Administration; she is a graduate fellow from the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance, University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
Sharon is a member representative for First Shore Federal on several nonprofit agencies and serves in leadership roles; United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (2021 Jim Barrett Community Leadership Award) Habitat for Humanity (2021 Board member of the year) WCNAACP, Vice-chair Salvation Army, Village of Hope, and the Board of Elections. Sharon also serves at the committee level of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) and the John B. Parsons Foundation.

In 2022 Sharon joined visionary founder Sonya Whited as a founding member of Black Excellence Community Fund, together with Lori Carter, to promote philanthropic participation by gathering resources, donating time and experiences, while sharing the importance of philanthropy for the betterment of sustaining Black communities. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Delta Sigma Omega Chapter presented Sharon with its 2022 Outstanding Public Service Award.

The Salisbury Award is the community’s oldest and most prestigious independent civic award. First given in 1926, the award was established and originally endowed by local businessman G. William Phillips to recognize “service that has been the greatest benefit to the happiness, prosperity, intellectual advancement or moral growth of the community”.
