United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore recently received a contribution of $1,152.00 from the United Parcel Service (UPS) based in Salisbury, MD as a result of employee-led soda and candy fundraisers. The gift will support United Way funded programs in the local community including daily home-delivered meals to seniors, job training for the developmentally disabled, 1:1 mentoring to at-risk youth, critical health services and local food pantries.

A strong, long-time supporter of United Way, the fundraising contribution is in addition to the generous UPS employee-led United Way Campaign this past year totaling $15,495. “UPS has been supporting the United Way for more than 30 years,” shared Debbie Townsend, UPS Business Manager. “The United Way gives people in the community opportunities that they wouldn’t ordinarily have. Here in Salisbury, we are proud to partner with the United Way in its mission to assist the needy living here in the Lower Eastern Shore.”

In the last 10 years alone, UPS has contributed $194,550 to United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. Amy Luppens, United Way Assistant Director shares, “UPS is a true champion in the community exemplifying what it means to ‘Live United.’ We are so grateful for their support and helping our United Way make a real difference in the lives of Lower Shore residents.”
