Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted construction management and general contracting firms on Delmarva, announced it have been hired to build two new buildings for Valley Proteins located at 5420 Linkwood Drive in Linkwood, Maryland.
“Repeat customers are one way we continue to grow our reputation,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson. “We value the opportunity to provide solutions to our clients that will help them grow and expand to serve the community.”
The project includes a 1,200 square foot boiler building with a grinding room addition, poultry meal silos and fat tanks and a 7,800 square foot load out building. The expansion will allow for better quality control with materials being brought in through one entrance and shipped out through a separate exit.
“We were looking to move the steam generation outside the processing plant and this expansion will do that and free up space for future processing upgrades,” said Tom Himmler, Valley Proteins, project manager. “We trusted Gillis Gilkerson with the project because of the quality work they did on the three new buildings at our processing plant a couple years ago. They delivered the job ahead of schedule and under budget.”
The Gillis Gilkerson team led by project manager Matt Esham, is scheduled to be completed in mid-2018.
