Great Places to Work Certified

Allen + Shariff has been committed to moving our Mission 2030 vision forward. This mission places our company in the forefront one of the best firms to work with, and also best company to work for. Thus, we are committed to ensuring that we create a work environment that our employees value and take pride in.

I am incredibly honored and proud to announce that Allen + Shariff has received Great Place to Work Certification. This prestigious award is based entirely on the feedback of current employees. A global authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and effective leadership, Great Place to Work provides independent company assessments based entirely on employees’ feedback about their workplace experience. Our employee survey revealed that 93 percent of our employees say Allen + Shariff is a great place to work, compared to just 57 percent at the typical U.S.-based company.

Our employees are our most valuable asset, and our priority is to provide not only a top-notch employee experience every day, but to also work tirelessly to continue to improve to meet changing needs. In spring 2022, we conducted an employee survey to find out what additional benefits our employees were looking for. With this information, we adjusted our benefits package including 401k, maternity/paternity leave, hybrid work schedules, PTO buy-back, etc. Building a strong culture for our team members is every bit as important to our growth and success as designing innovative engineering solutions for our clients.

We pride ourselves on having a culture where all backgrounds and experiences are respected and encouraged. In a testament to the company’s commitment to inclusion, 99 percent of team members surveyed by Great Place to Work say people are treated fairly regardless of their race, age, or gender. Likewise, 96 percent of our employees are proud to tell others that they work here, and that management is honest and ethical in their business practices. Our core company values of integrity, collaboration, responsiveness, innovation, quality, and fun are key to us cultivating an inclusive work environment.

We celebrate and thank the Allen + Shariff work family, whose support has enabled our company to earn such an incredible recognition. We will continue to collect employee feedback to evolve our culture to meet the needs of our people. The Mission 2030 vision will continue to serve as the framework for us to develop what success looks like in coming years and make the decisions necessary to continue to be the best place to work, with the best projects, and the best firm to do business with.

Best Place to Work – Pittsburgh Office

group of staff in office wearing Pittsburgh gearAs we celebrate Great Place to Work Certification for the entire corporation, the Pittsburgh office is celebrating an additional workplace honor. For the second year in a row, the Pittsburgh office has been awarded the “Best Place to Work” award by the Pittsburgh Business Times. Companies were judged based on an online employee survey earlier this year and chosen in four categories based on the number of employees working in Western Pennsylvania. This year, we are the only engineering firm to make the list of award winners. We are so grateful that our Pittsburgh employees recognize us as a top-notch working environment! Thank you to our wonderful staff who continue to make Allen + Shariff so successful. We look forward to receiving our award in person at the January celebration lunch.

Don Hocking Retires

At the end of 2022, Allen + Shariff will be celebrating the retirement of one of the best. Salisbury will be commemorating Senior Mechanical Engineer Don Hocking’s retirement. With over 18 years of experience as our team member, Allen + Shariff staff have benefitted from his years of knowledge and expertise. There is nothing more important to junior staff than having the right mentors to grow from.

Thank you, Don, for your dedication to the field and your continued support of Allen + Shariff. We appreciate your dedication, leadership, and mentoring. We wish you all the very best in the next chapter of your life!
