Our guest speaker this year is Richard E.Hall, Maryland’s former Secretary of Planning, 2007-2015. Mr. Hall came up from the ranks of the agency from an entry level position. He served as the State’s point person on smart growth. In 2014 Mr. Hall was named “smart growth hero” by 1000 Friends of Maryland. During his tenure as Secretary he was awarded the Hall of the Admiral of the Chesapeake Bay Award, the highest honor given by a governor to an individual for environmental contributions. He was born in Salisbury, Maryland and is currently the Executive Director for Citizens Planning and Housing Association for Baltimore City.
Dr. Judith Stribling, Salisbury University Biology Department will introduce Jay Martin of Provident Organic Farms in Bivalve, Maryland as this year’s recipient of the John Groutt Award for Environmental Stewardship.
Mayor Jake Day will be making the introductions for Martin Hutchison founder of Camden Community Gardens this year’s recipient of the WET Award for Environmental Advocacy.
